15 Year Old Nyah (Wings as of September 2021)
“Thank you for your help, Team Nathaniel! Your contribution has made a difference on our journey.”
Meet 15 year old Nyah. Team Nathaniel was able to help Nyah and her family to get back on their feet. Nyah’s mom, Danielle, shared the following story with us about Nyah’s journey:
Nyah's story began in May, 2017. Being a single parent, working hard to raise her in Boulder County. We ate healthy, worked out and has the typical "Colorado Lifestyle ". . . She attended Monarch K8 her entire school year because jumping schools was terrible for me as a child. She was perfect, healthy.... my best friend. She started getting headaches after her 5th grade immunizations to qualify for camp. She wanted to become a camp leader at 15. Her headaches were unbearable and nothing helped. I took her to the doctor 17 times and they would keep sending us home. After her last day of 6th grade, we had a camping trip.... with that, we went to the mall to buy a swimsuit and I decided to get her eyes checked (maybe her headaches were from her eyes). They immediately saw swelling and sent us home. I rushed her to ER and the brain tumor was found. The original diagnosis gave us 3 days with her. The tumor was not operable. I finally found a doctor who did surgery 6 days after. She’s lost all vision and abilities. Devastating, I lost my world in one week. I had to teach her again how to walk and see... hold a pencil.... I'd wash her on our floor because she was too heavy to pick up. I researched extensively to the point of not sleeping or eating. I implemented everything and she improved. Especially with acupuncture. I ran through my 401k and savings.
She went from being blind and bald, to thriving with alternative care. Tumor gone! We did everything from 1400 THC a month, to $900 in supplements and food.
I never slept and became manic... finally she was normal again. I worked full time as a sales manager. She was alone all day and never continued supplements or workouts and the stupid tumor grew again in December, 2019. Life was resuming, and now gone again. She had a stroke during surgery and is now paralyzed on her left side. We work hard every day but it’s not the same. We're alone and scared with all this, plus COVID-19
